The End-of-Season Tournament was held on 4th June with 14 taking part. Quite a number of games went to 3 sets, showing how evenly matched the teams were. Having got a buy-in to the second round, Ashlyn and David earned their place in the final with two energy-sapping 3-setters. The dark horse of the night Heather and her fairly anonymous partner, easily brushed aside Paddy & Torren. In the next match, the ecclesiastical team of John and Alan narrowly saw off hotly- tipped Noel and Mandy. However, Heather and Co. Then went on to beat John and Alan, even after the latter surprisingly removed his trousers mid-game – to whoops from the ladies around the court!
The final was a hard-fought 3 setter, with long rallies – where Heather valiantly covered all sides of the court securing the trophy with the occasional help from her (at this stage) struggling partner. As usual, the good company, excellent spread of food and the occasional glass of wine led to a very enjoyable evening.
