The Rector Writes – where does it begin and how to celebrate

As we begin the season of Advent and our preparations for Christmas it may be good to take some time out to remind ourselves what it is all about.  For a start, contrary to secular culture, Christmas does not begin until ‘Oiche Nollaig’, Christmas Eve Night.  Then we celebrate the coming of Christ on earth over two thousand years ago.  But as we journey through Advent, let us remember that Christ has come to generations since then as they opened their hearts to him.  If we do likewise we will be able to celebrate a truly glorious Christmas.

May I take this opportunity on behalf of my family and me to wish one and all a happy and holy Christmas and a blessed New Year.

With every blessing,

John.
