Welcome Evergreens and friends to a new season of walks! Since our last outing I have explored some new and old routes which I hope you will all enjoy. Our next outing is to Vartry Lakes, Roundwood – a scenic walk around the lower reservoir. The waterworks have served Dublin since the 1860s and we will walk across the upper and lower dams and view the large complex of filter beds. The walk is mainly on tracks which may be muddy in wet weather, and some public roads.
We meet in the Parish Hall at about 12.00 midday, and cars are shared. Walks are 2 to 3 hours long and appropriate clothing and footwear should be worn. We usually bring a light lunch (sandwich etc and flask) and end up in a local hostelry on a BYO principle. Dogs are welcome but may require a lead near farms. Further information is available in the Walks Programme Brochure which is enclosed with this newsletter. Donald Gill, Walk Leader 087 1270592
