Race Nite’s Winning Post…..

There was a great buzz of anticipation ahead of the first race on the evening of 18th November. The assembled punters, ranging from the well seasoned to those with no previous experience, carefully examined the runners in each race before making their choices and then loudly cheered them on if they ventured anywhere near the front! This can be a hunger-inducing activity, so suitable refreshments were provided half-way through the race card.

All in all, the evening was a very enjoyable once for all the family with a great atmosphere throughout. Our thanks to the organising committee; Terry & Sue Forsythe, David and Barbara Cooper and Jim Finlay. Thanks also to those who sold horses and jockeys, those who purchased them, those who sponsored races, those who organised refreshments, to Henry Grattan Bellew who acted as auctioneer for the auction race, to those who bid in that auction, to those who provided prizes for that race and to Tillman Brewin Dolphin, asset Managers, who sponsored the Race Card. Last, but not least, thanks to all who supported the evening itself! The funds raised for the parish by the evening amounted to € 3,600, which was a brilliant result.
