Our Christmas celebrations 2015 helped many to capture the true spirit of the season. The Carol Service, in particular, was a great occasion for the entire local community. This Service was followed by a seasonal reception organised by Peter and Hilary Cobb together with Hilary Cran and Sue Forsyth and was greatly appreciated by all. At all the Services, the atmosphere was helped in no small way by the team work of a number of people. The Church, as always, was beautifully decorated by our talented flower arrangers under the watchful eyes of Janet Moore and Brigid FitzSimon and the Christmas tree was sourced and provided by David Cooper and decorated with lights by Alan Rhodes. The music and augmented choir were ably led by our organist and director of music, Dr. Paul McNulty. To them, to readers and churchwardens, a big “Thank you”. Our special Advent “Green Jar” collection raised €978 for the “Simon Community”. This is in addition to €791 which was raised at a Coffee morning and Cake Sale held in the Rectory at the beginning of December – making a total of €1769 for “Simon”. The Carol Service collection raised €865 to be shared equally between “Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind” and “Blackrock Hospice”.
