Sunday the 3rd January saw members of the Evergreens leave the Church Grounds after the mid morning Service and re-assemble at a wet and swampy Carrickgollogan Car Park. Although the heavy overnight and morning rain had moved on and a weak winter sun had taken its place, the walk proceeded on a soggy circular route through the woods and hillside taking in Ballycorus and the Lead Mines. The walk was incident packed (but thankfully injury free) and even one of the walkers had to receive ‘sole’ counselling from the Rector. (It was a critical case as the sole came off, not one, but both of the walker’s boots!)
Following the walk, a dinner reception was held at the home of Donald and Deirdre Gill. Many thanks to Donald for organising our Evergreens walks rota throughout the year and to Deirdre for all her hard work in providing the Christmas post-walk meal.
P.S. Sunday 13th March. Evergreen Walking Club outing to Djouce Woods and Powerscourt Deer Park. More details in next month’s Newsletter.
