Our Harvest Thanksgiving Festival held on Sunday 11th October was an uplifting occasion. The Church was splendidly decorated in traditional style with arrangements of fruit, vegetables, ears of corn, flowers and a ‘model farm’ arrangement! Our special preacher was Canon Paul Willoughby who is well known to many parishioners and indeed to many in these dioceses. The previous week, Alan Rhodes, our diocesan Lay Reader, preached at a Harvest Festival in the church of St. Brendan the Navigator, Bantry. Paul’s parish is Kilmocomogue Union (Bantry, Durrus and Castletownbere, Co. Cork). A big “Thank you” to Paul for his inspiring words; to Sandra Ruttle, Janet Moore, Brigid FitzSimon and their team of flower arrangers; to our organist Paul McNulty and members of the choir; and to the coffee caterers, Hilary Cran, Barbara and David Cooper for making the occasion such a memorable one.
