The sun was again shining on Greystones Golf Course for the fourth year, (we must be doing something right!) as parishioners and friends met for soup and sandwiches before playing in the
annual 3 person team event. With 8 teams playing in near perfect conditions some good scores were
expected and we were not disappointed when everyone met for pre-dinner drinks and discussion
about the day’s play.
We were pleased to be joined for dinner by the Rector and Vera and eight parishioners and friends. After dinner it was time for the prize giving, the scorecards having been checked. Terry announced the prize winners and Vera presented the prizes. Thanks to Sam’s Cookies for two beautiful hampers and the generosity of the golfers and friends there was prizes for everyone who played. There were prizes for our dinner guest also – only if they knew who was the World’s No. 1 golfer and thanks to Cleo Ellis who answered correctly. Rory McElroy saved the day!
1st team prize was won by Leslie Ellis, Simon Murray and Gus Kavanagh with a score of 73. 2nd prize was won by Don Beck, Doug Notley and Alison Notley with a score of 70. 3rd Prize went to Ernie Porter, Paul Hayes and Derek Crampton with a score of 66. The remaining five teams followed close behind. Nearest the pin on the 14th was won by Neil Stuart.
A big “Thank you” to everyone for making the day a very happy and social occasion.
