On the afternoon of Sunday 25th May a group of seventeen set out on this venture.
Fortune smiled on the occasion as the day before proved to be a very showery and the following day extremely wet. However, although the day itself started dull and overcast, it brightened beautifully to give pleasant sunshine at the summit. In planning this event the organising committee specifically had younger families with children in mind and were disappointed with the small numbers that participated despite extensive advertising and promotion – all the more so as the Evergreens walking group chose to cancel their walk planned for the previous Sunday in order to support this event.
Nevertheless, for those who completed the climb (and those who didn’t quite make it!) it was a very enjoyable afternoon and the sponsorship received to date exceeds €700 in aid of the Bray Women’s Refuge.
Many thanks to Donald Gill for undertaking the role of walk leader and to the organising committee for arranging it.
