Alleluia! Christ is risen!
The events of Holy Week and the time around the Cross have now passed and we come to the happiest, most joyful, most important time in the Christian church. The very centre of our faith – Christ’s resurrection.
At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus – and don’t we all just love to celebrate a new arrival? When we think of Christmas with all its secular aspects – presents, christmas trees, turkey and all the trappings of modern life, we forget that at Easter, we are not only celebrating the a birth, but more fantastically – a RE-birth. Jesus has died and is born again – seen by Mary, his mother, and his disciples. Is this not cause to celebrate even more than at Christmas? Jesus Christ, through the power of God and the Holy Spirit, has been raised from the dead and is alive!
This is the great Christian belief that for all of us one day, we hope that we will rise from the dead to live with the Father in Heaven.
Now isn’t that cause for great celebration? A celebration bigger than Christmas?
Over the next few weeks as we pass through the Church’s Easter season, let’s remember what Christ has done for all of us and be truly happy!
We are an Easter people – happy and joyful. Alleluia!
