Kerr Trophy win for the Tullow Indoor Bowls Club – congratulations!

CONGRATULATIONS to the Tullow Church Indoor Bowling Club !
Tullow bowlers are over the moon having won the Kerr Trophy. as our numbers are very small we were unable to enter the McIlwaine Cup which is a knock-out competition. The Kerr was run on a round robin basis and of the 9 matches played we won 7, drew 1 and lost 1. We played teams from as far as Malahide and as near as Kill o’ the Grange. We all enjoyed ourselves and tried to do our best. Almost everyone played at least one match and thanks to all for their commitment. Thanks also to Rita our inimitable tea lady and all who helped provide half time sustenance for those playing, here’s to next season.
In 2009, Mr. Bob Kerr (St. Mary’s, Crumlin Indoor Bowling Club) presented a trophy, first used for a competition to be played for on a league basis by a single mixed rink of four players. Mr. Kerr suggested the competition so as to provide a league for small bowling clubs and those without a large enough membership to run two or more full teams.
Mr. Bob Kerr was Association President 1988 – 1989 and the Hon. Treasurer 1991 – 2012, just the second person to hold that position in the Association. He also instituted an Annual Dinner and Presentation of Trophies in 2000 that ran until 2011.
