Annual Golf Outing at Greystones – rainclouds and prizes

The rain clouds were gathering over Greystones Golf Club as parishioners and friends met for soup and sandwiches before playing in the annual 3 person team event. With 7 teams playing in conditions far from ideal, scoring was going to be difficult. But thankfully they only had to cope with two very heavy showers and all managed to complete the 18 holes except for Hilary, Nicky and Caroline who understandably had to give up upon the 14th – still with a very good scorecard.

We were very pleased to be joined for dinner by the Rerainclouds and ctor and Vera and seven parishioners and friends. After dinner it was time for the prize giving, all scorecards having been carefully checked. Terry announced the prizes and scores and Vera presented the prizes. Thanks to the generosity of the golfers there were prizes for everyone who played and we also had a prize for all our dinner guests.

  • 1st team prize was won by Neil Stuart, Torren Gale and John Weir with an excellent score of 71 points.

  • 2nd prize was won by Don Beck, Doug Notley and Alison Notley with a score of 61.

  • 3rd Prize was won by Bob Willis, Frank Sowman and Jennifer Sowman with a score of 55. All other teams followed close behind.

  • Nearest the pin on the 14th was won by Torren Gale.

  • Best men’s score on the 15th was won by Doug Notley.

  • Best ladies’ score on the 7th was won by Jennifer Sowman.

A big “Thank you” to everyone for making the day a very enjoyable social occasion.
