Golfing in the sunshine – winners all round!

Greystones Golf Course was again bathed in sunshine as parishioners and friends met for soup and sandwiches before playing in the annual 3 person Team Event. With 8 teams playing in perfect conditions some high scores were expected. And we were not disappointed when everyone met for pre-dinner drinks and discussion about the day’s play.

We were delighted to be joined for dinner by the Rector and Vera and eleven parishioners and friends. After dinner it was time for the prizegiving – the scorecards having been carefully checked by Terry. As always thanks to Frank Johnson and Sam’s Cookies for two beautiful hampers and generosity of people in bringing prizes. There was a prize for everyone who played, and we even had prizes for our dinner guests. Vera presented the prizes.

1st Team Prize was won by Jonathan Morton, Neil Stuart and George Donald with a great score of 80 points. Very close 2nd was Leslie Ellis, Simon Murray and Ron Fitzell with 78 points. 3rd was Don Beck, Alex McLaron and Doug Notley with 77 points. The remaining 5 teams came close behind. Nearest the Pin on the 14th was won by Clifford Forsyth. A big “thank you” to everyone for making the outing a very happy and social occasion.
